I hate cooking dinner. Now don’t get me wrong, I used to love cooking meals for my family (back in the mythological days when we all ate at the same time, had the same nutritional needs and had the cash for multiple ingredients). These days, however, cooking is a stressful process that involves balancing a daughter who’s gluten-free, a baby who is dairy-free, and an extremely strapped budget (not to mention a schedule that makes finding time to bake very difficult). Lately my husband has been getting home late, and has had absolutely nothing to eat (enter ominous music and guilty-wife feelings).
Since he is a “meat and potatoes” kind of a guy, he loves warm, comforting foods (extra points if he thinks I took the time to make it). This is why I was pretty pumped to discover the new Marie Callender’s Multi-Serve Bakes at my local Walmart (incase you haven’t noticed, I might be moving in sometime soon). They are all the things that a man loves (satisfying, hearty and chock-full of gluten), but I don’t have to take the time to cook completely separate meals for both he and my gluten-free brood. Since they took very little time to bake (and even less effort on my part), I can still feel like I did something sweet for my family (and let’s face it, no one needs to be the wiser). Just keep your mouths shut, ok guys?
