Nip Your Ugly Lingerie In The Stretched Out Butt

Moms Jessica Alba and Katherine Heigl don’t let ugly bra straps ruin their look…

Are you in an underwear rut? Tired of granny panties and stretched out maternity bras? Let these three up-and-coming New York lingerie brands featured in the Journelle boutique inspire you (even if the price point is way above your pay grade…fashion is about fantasy after all!)

At Fashion’s Night Out during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week this year, I had the pleasure of browsing through the charming Journelle boutique. They were showcasing three young New York brands who create sophisticated and sexy underwear (you know… the kind of stuff that we moms never have time to wear).

* Brulee

Designer Kristian Giambi creates beautiful and feminine undergarments without all of the childish frills and lace. (She says men usually love her line and buy it as gifts for their girlfriends and wives, because its sexy but not juvenile). She describes her line as “modern glamour with an edge.” Many of her pieces are composed of exquisite silks and jerseys that will make you feel like a goddess (something we rarely experience, right?)

My Favorite: The Brulee Vamp Collection Robe ($280)

This silk robe is to die for. The silhouette makes you feel like an old Hollywood actress. It has a wide attached belt (so you never have to worry about losing it!), which is also slimming. If you throw it on in the morning when you need to go outside to grab the mail, you will surely be the envy of the neighborhood (goodbye ugly flannels!)

* Ari Dien

Do you want to kick your underwear up a notch? Arielle Shapiro, whose grandfather was a leader in the American fur industry, creates a line for the downtown girl who wants to add some spice to her life. Ari Dein features an updated and modern twist on Old New York glamour.

My Favorite: Ari Dein Exclusive Journelle Short  ($196)

This floral patterned short is made of sheer silk. The cut along the thighs accentuates and hugs your fabulous curves (nice, right?)

* Zinke

Design team Arin Robinson and Jessie Zinke create for the modern woman, who “approaches fashion with a creative mind; mixing high with low, classic with bohemian.” Their fall collection was inspired by the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe and is entitled “Love Letters.” The line features dark and blazing colors (aubergine, slate, black, amethyst) which oozes passion and sensual love (not every woman wants to wear rainbows and butterflies).

My Favorite: The Zinke Stargazer Bralet  ($99)

If you never have time for your romantic side, this bra is perfect for you. It’s wireless but the constructed seams help to give you comfortable lift!

After visiting Journelle, you will never go back to frumpy cotton panties and worn out bras. These lovely designs will help you exude confidence and sophistication (and hopefully inspire you to step far away from the granny pantie!)

* What About The Expectant Momma?: If you’re pregnant and have nothing to wear (highly probable), try checking out Very shopping. It’s a website with stylish clothes for all women (those who are preggers and those who aren’t), but it even has maternity lingerie to fit your gorgeous baby bump. Love it!
