Skin without makeup, skin with… and a fist pump for good skin?
The Product: Dr. Denese 6 Step Program Plus
The Need: My skin has more personalities than Lady Ga Ga, Britney Spears and Mariah Carey combined. On some days, it’s an oily, moody teenager who hates beards, a shift in routine, and generally, me. On other days it’s a dry, wintery wasteland with burgeoning forehead wrinkles and fine lines that have no where to go but downhill given my chosen language (ASL is not low on facial expressions, my friends). I needed a bootcamp regimen to kick my complexion’s toosh in to gear, but I honestly never thought Dr Denese’s products would be the magic trick.
The Breakdown: Even though YOU could win this 6 step system as part of the Be Your Own Makeover Momma giveaway, I knew I was hooked when I found myself writing a novella-length email to a most recent Facebook party winner. Highlights included “the serum is the best thing you’ve ever tried” or “I touched my own face and it was so smooth I didn’t know who’s face it was” (and other oxymoronic gems of this nature). Don’t believe me? Here’s the breakdown…
The Results: Personally, I use my normal acne-fighting face wipe on my T-zone as per usual every day and night (because I didn’t want to rock the “finally not breaking out” boat). I use a little bit of water to cleanse my dry cheeks and forehead as well, and the Dr. Denese Advanced Firming Facial Pads every other day. Since I have sensitive skin, I’m trying to ease in to the program gradually, especially because the products are fabulously powerful.
I use the Firming Facial Age Correcting Eye Cream, HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum and HydroShield Dream Cream without fail every morning and night, and I’m not kidding when I say that the serum is more addictive than Downton Abbey and Reeses-peanut-butter-anything combined. I keep having these embarrassing “silent rock out” moments- Stevie Nicks or Florence and the Machine style- where I basically sway in place and feel my crazy smooth face. Literally, it’s the softest thing ever, and I still suspect a complete skin transplant was secretly part of this product.
I use the Firming Facial Age Corrector Cream every night (I put it on my anti-T-zone areas like cheeks, forehead and neck), and then follow with dream cream. You’d think this many creams would make my skin oilier, but instead it looks calm, even toned and less oily everyday. I have left the house a few times this week and forgot I hadn’t put any mineral foundation on, because that’s how even-toned it looks! (How many exclamation points can I use in one paragraph to emphasize my point?)
Twice a week I use the Firming Facial MicroDermabrasian Cream, and once a week I use the SkinPerfect Rx Glycolic Transforming Peel. As someone who likes very little time in the bathroom and skips makeup most days, I still think the additional steps this routine requires (more at night than in the morning) is worth the results, and lack of time spent struggling with concealer, zit zappers or praying to voodoo witch doctors for my skin to behave.
Do It Yourself: I cannot rave enough about this system, but it still goes without saying that it’s pretty dang pricey for the everyday mom. I feel safe saying that even one product from this line would be better than none, or if you need a complete overhaul, spring for the 15 Day SkinScience Booster Program to at least get you on the right track. And if you think I’ve completely lost touch with reality (I still wear $5 dresses and haven’t been able to afford a movie theatre ticket in eons, don’t worry), I will be posting some home-made, DIY beauty musts tomorrow. Use a mix of both… steal a tip from here or there… but either way, this is one product line worth a good geek out.
