Make a Green Smoothie For Your Health: Sunday Snack With Johanna


Have you heard about coconut water yet? It’s all over the place from your favorite Thai, raw or vegan restaurant, to your local smoothie joint. I’m in love with it because it tastes amazing and the health benefits are equally as amazing (did I mention it’s amazing?) So where does this water come from? The coconut water derives from a young green coconut, and is taken before the “meat” of the coconut grows.  I love it after or before a workout to help replace electrolytes, but it’s also fat free, low in calories and loaded with potassium. I have been getting ONE coconut water or Vita Coco (which can be found at most groceries or But there are many other brands that make coconut water.

The Drink: Green Smoothie with Coconut Water

* 3 cups of organic baby spinach

* 3 cups of coconut water

* 1 organic banana

Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. It’s packed with potassium and electrolytes…so enjoy for your health!

    Thanks for posting this, I just discovered coconut water, and this gives me a great way to use it. I make a “Dr Oz Green Drink” in the mornings, and I am always amazed at how you can hardly taste the spinach at all — it just tastes like freshness. I’m sure its the same with this drink — it sounds like a tropical cocktail. I look forward to trying this!
