1. The Boyfriend Blazer
Since last season, menswear has made a re-emergence in many women’s wardrobes. But since its limelight on the scene, the black boyfriend has been altered to fit the shape and size of petite women, plus size women (and everyone in between). The color has also change, instead of the basic black BB (boyfriend blazer)- Forever21 and many other clothing stores have manufactured red, white, blue, and even pink blazers to add a punch of color to this season’s clothing lines. The magnificent shades that these blazers come in can also be found in your local Goodwill or thrift store. They are both cheap and fashionable…and how can you go wrong with that?
2. Little Black Dress/Little Blue Dress
This fashion staple has been around for so long, since the era of Coco Chanel’s fashions. Doesn’t every woman have that amazing black dress hanging in their closets, which they can slip on no matter the occasion? But this season the new “little black dress”, is the little blue dress. This blue ensemble still has the Coco Chanel chic look (if paired with a classic stilettos, simple accessories and a snap clutch), but with an extra punch.
3. Simple Nude/Black Pump
These basic shoes can spice up any outfit you have in your closet at this very moment, while remaining conservative enough to wear in an office. This pump can be paired with cute skinny jeans and a simple top (plus, a clutch and statement jewelry). They’ll add a touch of class to an ensemble on a night out with the girls, or a simple casual day at meetings.
4. Basic White Button Down Shirt
A simple, crisp white button down shirt can be paired with virtually anything! This fashion staple looks good with a nice pair of slacks, pearl earrings and necklace, a big face gold or silver watch, and nude pumps (with your Blackberry in hand on the way to the office). Then again, you can look just as good with this basic white button down on a night out with the hubby or boyfriend. Pair it with linen, jean, or culotte bottoms (tucked in), a boyfriend blazer, and any stiletto of your choice (even a platform wedge could work). This simple piece of clothing can add many dimensions to a plain outfit.
These basic, yet essential pieces can add both individuality and class to any outfit you put together. Don’t overwhelm yourself: try to enhance your wardrobe one by one (don’t go out and splurge all at once). By using these tips, I know you ladies can dominate this season’s concrete runway. Let your uniqueness shine through! And remember, be fashionable no matter the occasion.
