Now that Makeover Momma has launched our new Family Page, it gives us opportunities to delve into important topics that aren’t specific to mommas alone. But whether we’re chatting about kid safety, kid snacks or kid toys, there is one topic that is easy to overlook: the environment within our home. As busy, budgeted parents, my husband (who frequently shares his dieting habits as The Hubs) and I, never even think about the state of our bedroom. After moving into our home some years ago, we put tremendous care into decorating out children’s rooms, our living area and the rest of the house, but after our youngest daughter wound up in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit immediately after birth…we had no more funding to put towards our bedroom.
Even though the baby is now 13 months old, we continue to put all of our energy into medical bills, schedules, and activities, and never think twice about the boring, bland, uninspiring area we call the “master bedroom.” If you can find yourself relating to this story, try considering a fresh bedroom makeover in the near future. In order to finally feel inspired and rejuvenated after a long, hard day, it’s important to put some care into our living space (even if you can only do a little bit at a time).
Here are the brands we used in our new bedroom (and some beautiful photos of other options, to make you drool)…
* The Bed: We chose beautiful, stone colors from Donna Karan Home Collection.
* The Curtains: Since we have long windows, we needed bold, draping curtains from Curtainworks.
Be sure to stay tuned for Part 2 of our bedroom makeover (where we let our new bedspread and curtain colors inspired the rest of the room). Goodbye blank, boring walls!
* Sound Off: What do you think of the new colors? How would YOU spruce up the rest of the room?
