Katie Holmes Trapeze Top — Fashion Trends In Motherhood

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usImage Hosted by ImageShack.us

    Makeover Mommaâ„¢ Rating: A

    Why:

It used to be that loose, flowing tops were meant to hide cute figures or conceal newly pregnant bumps… but now they go along with both! We love drapy trapeze tops on both Katie Holmes and expectant mom Nicole Richie, because they look simple, chic and super comfortable (chasing after a toddler all day? No problem!) Any item of clothing that lets mothers run errands and households while looking fashionable is fine by us, so try creating this look yourself.

Whether wearing a classic top (like Xhilaration Tank Vest top) or going for the funkier variety (such as Plaid Hem Tunic), it’s all about proportions and choosing the perfect fit for your frame. If you have a long torso or want to cover up more, try pairing a sleek top (in a lengthening pattern or dark color) with a fitted cardigan and slim-fit jeans. If you are petite, try wearing your top with a supportive bra (or tank underneath), and length-appropriate shorts or a skirt (an inch or two above the knee, for most moms).  Make sure to always pair trapeze tops with fitted items (to avoid looking big all over) and never wear one that’s too long (it’s not a dress).

I like the look and think it is good for comfort and fashion at the same time (which seems to be getting harder and harder to find together these days). I really like Katie’s a lot.

I like the look of these trapeze tops on other women, but I have yet to find one that works on someone with a large bust. They just make me look ginormous, as the silhouette doesn’t end up “trapeze” but rather “square”. For other women, though – I think they look cute and comfy.

^ True, that is exactly what my (genetically blessed) sister would say ; )
