There are certain beauty products that continue to have a bad reputation in this day and age, from overuse during any one particular decade (lip liner, powder blue eyeshadow, and blush, to name a few), but hairspray is definitely one of those misunderstood products. Here’s what our Real Momma contributor Jenny found out about hairspray (plus, three easy tips to incorporate hairspray into your beauty routine!)
Product: Oscar Blandi Lacca Hair Spray
What I Thought: “I must admit I’m not an avid user of hair products. (Yes, I do shampoo and condition, however!) But… if I were inclined to use hair spray, I’d reach for this one. It held my hair in place gently, yet firmly and smells good too!”
How can you use hairspray in your day-to-day life? Try these quick tips:
1) Create Volume: The next time you’re having a bad hair day (and are resorting to that trusty ponytail), try using hairspray to create volume at your roots for a chic up-do. Flip your head over, spray your roots thoroughly, massage hair with fingers (or gently tease with a brush or comb), and sweep into a high, loose ponytail.
2) Soak Up Oil: Did you know hairspray can be a great, last second replacement for dry shampoo? Spritz onto any oily areas of your scalp, let it dry, and gently massage strands with fingertips…your hair will look oil-free and full of life in no time!
3) Tame Fly-aways:If your hair is simply having an unruly day (or dried funny overnight), take small amounts of hairspray on a baby toothbrush (or your pinky finger) and use to slick down wild areas of your hair.
