Get A Complete BlogHer Wardrobe For Under $100: Makeover Momma BlogHer Spotlight

Are you going to BlogHer this year (a conference for women in writing, blogging and media?) We mommas already have enough to worry about when it comes to wardrobe, but going bankrupt over our BlogHer outfits is definitely not a good option. In the past, I always go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls to choose outfits for fashion week, runway shows or other Makeover Momma events. Unfortuantely, I’ve been panicking over my BlogHer options (something tells me that pajamas covered in spit up is not going to cut it). Luckily, I teamed up with TJ Maxx to see how many outfits I could get for $100, without losing any high fashion or chic style that I was craving.

My goals when choosing dresses were the following: 1) extremely comfortable so I don’t have to wear skintight shapewear for 24 hours of the day, 2) appropriate for the hot, sticky New York City weather in August, and C) dresses that speak for themselves (so I don’t have to overload on accessories).

Watch this video to see the final result, and let me know: how should I accessorize the third outfit? Take this poll below and comment, and you’ll automatically be entered into all the giveaways on Makeover Momma for the month of August (pretty cool, right?)

* What Do You Think: Do you like the outfits I chose? What is YOUR criteria when it comes to choosing outfits for BlogHer?

Stay tuned to Makeover for exclusive BlogHer coverage (August 5’th – 8’th), including the latest fashion trends, stylish travel tips, healthy eating brands, new workout plans and more!

This is the first video of I’ve watched on your site. I love it, super cute!

I think the third look would be cute with sandals (maybe some of those gladiator-y ones I’ve seen all over the place).

I’ve been shopping all morning for BlogHer and found nothing. You’ve inspired to me to head to TJ Maxx!

P.S. You’ll be at the Flatout Bread event Sunday morning, right? I’ll see you there!

I would like to see some chunky not shiney silver cuff braclet and earrings the kind that look like the blacksmith has just beat out your silver cuff bracelet and the same kind of earrings.

  3. Like I said, some stunning sling-backs in turquoise would be a great addition and some beaded turquoise earrings and matching bracelet! Or a turquoise clutch instead of the bracelet! Can’t wait to see what you do to dress it up!

  4. Amy says:

I chose ballet flats, or some the cute flat shoe because having lived in NYC before… I quickly learned to never wear high heels when you will be walking around all day 🙂 I think a cute, chunky turquoise bracelet and earrings.. either beaded or a silver base. I actually make jewelry and had the perfect bracelet! But I’m out I believe 🙁

Have fun! All 3 dresses are super cute! Makes me want to go to TJ Maxx this weekend!

I would chose some great comfortable sandals in a turquoise. Usually in NYC you walk alot and then there are the parties. I would go with a chunky beaded beaclet that has some turquoise in with some other bright colors to give you some flair.

  6. Naomi says:

I’m actually a big fan of boots with dresses but for summer something more… breathable… would probably be best. I think a pair of zip-back gladiator sandals would be cute.

  7. Summer says:

I would bring out the teal/turquoise color. I agree with the other posts, earrings and bracelet should do the trick. I also voted for flats, due to all the walking in NYC.

  8. I voted ballet flats. I think they would be super cute and comfy!

  9. Liz says:

Definitely the 3rd dress, and I agree with the first poster, some gladiator type sandals, or strappy heels. And cute earrings.

    Can’t wait to meet you!
