Could You Wear Haute Couture Makeup At The Grocery Store?: Fashion Event Diary

Would you ever wear thick, Cleopatra eye makeup or white talon nails? The fabulous Avantika (from The Beauty Buff Blog) discovered all of the wild New York Fashion Week trends seen backstage at Victor De Souza (and sees is they translate into every-day life)…

“As beautiful and unique as the hair and makeup was from the Victor  dE Souza show was, it wasn’t the most wearable look I’ve ever seen. There were, however, trend-worthy elements that could easily be translated into real life. NARS makeup artist Lena Koro created a mysterious reverse cat eye which drew attention to the darkened silhouettes and contours in the face using black eyeliner in Black Moon. She drew a thick winged out Cleopatra-esque line that was beautiful and flattering on just about any eye or face shape. For the more adventurous mommies out there, this would be a fun date night or “girls night out” look. It’s simple, quick and full of dramatic flair. Adding a low key gloss like the almost colorless NARS Triple X would balance the face.

CND took “alien chic” to a new level by creating day-glow white talons that were fitted above the nail bed. Not a manicure you’d typically request when hitting your local salon! The snow white nail is, however, a Spring polish trend that was big on the runway at Twinkle by Wenlan and Karen Walker for this season. It’s a versatile shade, looks polished, clean and totally unique. It also screams light, airy, flirty…Spring! A sentiment we can all get behind!

Phyto hair guru, Danilo, created a modern chignon that wasn’t something you could throw up on the typical Monday rush to work, but it did show how beautifully voluminous hair that’s gathered at the top of the head and fades to the side, can look. He also began the look by creating “Olympic ponytails”, meaning hair that was high, tight and big. The high ponytail can easily be recreated by really gathering hair and using a hairspray like Spray de Coiffage (like he did) to get oomph, style and shape. To slick the sides and get that tight sleek look use Phyto Strong Sculpting Gel.

So, although dE Souza’s looks aren’t for the uber casual-low key mommy, they can be wearable and fun to pull together . He created several fashion forward trends that can not only be recreated at home but put together in a mommy-friendly amount of time!”
