Chakayla is a student at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, an aspiring to major in communications and double majoring in journalism and Spanish (and a fabulous Executive Assistant at Makeover Momma!) Chakayla currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with her family.
Since the early age of eight her mother Helena Taylor has always been her style icon. A woman of great fortitude and fearlessness, Helena refused to follow commercial trends and started to create her own. Chakayla is strongly interested in forecasting fresh, new trends, and is dedicated to reporting which trends will make or break each designers fashion stories. Chakayla is dedicated to expanding her career in fashion while highlighting all women of every race, size, and shape.
Though her liberal arts institution does not offer specific fashion and design classes, she is making her own strides to help those doors open for her. Since she is taking up a major in communications, she is using this as an advantage to diversify her education at Wake Forest. Chakayla recently wrote an opinion article for the campus newspaper Old Gold & Black and is currently starting a fashion club with another aspiring designer.
