Do Adoptive Moms Get New Clothes Too?

Expectant moms Selma Blair and January Jones look amazing…

    * BONUS Post Review:

I want another baby. Yes, I said it (my husband is probably weeping while reading this right now). And even though it is not the best time for our family to expand, I can’t help but confess my future aspirations to adopt a child. Of course it will take many years for us to make this dream a reality, but in the meantime, I can’t help but miss one thing about the expectant experience: my baby bump. Despite being painfully sick and miserable throughout most of my pregnancy, I absolutely adored not having to “suck in” anymore as my stomach grew, or getting an automatic upgrade from “negative A cup” to “could pass for a C with good lighting” dimensions. But even though I won’t be buying new clothes to dress my shape shifting body any time soon, I can’t help but love finding cute maternity clothes for other mothers in need.

    * If You Want To Look Bumptastic: Very Maternity Dresses

Maternity clothes are not pretty. Unless you go to Target or speciality stores, I’ve found that most pregnancy fashions are frumpy, dumpy and not-so-friendly to your bumpy (I’ve been reading too many nursery rhymes lately). And even if you do find cute styles, they are very rarely in the right size or simply cost more than your baby itself. Instead of worrying about in-store shopping excursions, try shopping online instead. You can find comfortable maternity dresses and flattering pieces, without waddling around an aisle all day (even if you still deny the presence of a waddle), and wasting your precious energy. Kick back, purchase online and get back to the important things in life… like growing a brain or some fingers internally. Where are else will you find a “To Do List” like that?

    * Sound Off: Where did you find the best maternity clothing while pregnant? Should adoptive moms get new clothing perks too?

Watch My Special Needs Chat And Be 1 of 20 Winners!

    * Product Review of the Month: SPECIAL CHAT FOR SPECIAL NEEDS!

Makeover Momma is all about the moms (not to mention the makeup, clothing, and workouts). But it pretty much goes without saying that most of us moms deal with a great deal of stress and struggle when it comes to our kids and their various needs. Even if you don’t have a special needs child at home, you probably have a friend who does, or can sympathize with the plight of special needs mothers throughout the world.

So why should you join in for the Hands & Voices Communication Chat tonight (July 25’th at 7 PM/EST)? Because even if you don’t have a child who struggles with their hearing, speech or means of interaction, you can always learn more to help your friends, family or other kids in need. If you want to talk directly with top experts nationwide or learn more about sign language, speech therapy or other technological resources for your kids, don’t miss the show!

    Here’s How It Works

    * Click This Link to watch the Hands & Voices chat live at 7 PM/EST. You can view experienced moms, other guest experts and myself on the screen (just like a TV show), and ask them questions in a chat room throughout the hour.

    * Win Giveaways by following our amazing sponsors and participating in the conversation. If you want to chat during the show, make sure to set up a free, easy account at Stickam.com (you can’t actively join the discussion without a username).

Even though Hands & Voices is a non-biased organization for deaf and hard of hearing children, you can learn something from all of our experts. Better yet, over 20 of you (yes, 20) will win goodies from the following company (that’s pretty good odds)….

    The Giveaways: Ear Gear

My daughter Follin loves to eat her hearing aids. Even though she’s had them since she was 7 months old, she is constantly on the quest to rip them apart and chow down. I have to constantly take them on and off to avoid her choking when she’s not in my line of sight (in the car, at friend’s houses, playing in her room). As you can imagine, this is not only extremely tedious and expensive, but could be a grave hazard to her health. Thankfully, her pension for hearing aid cravings has greatly decreased since the introduction of Ear Gear in our home.

Ear Gear is a super comfortable accessory that slides easily onto hearing aids, and clips them securely to clothing. Even if my (now 2 year old) daughter pulls them off, I don’t have to worry about losing them because they’re still clipped to her shirt. And since the soft material makes her hearing aids more comfortable overall, she is less likely to become frustrated in general. If I could give a pair of Ear Gear to every baby, toddler and child I know…. I would!

    * Follow To Win: To be entered to win the fabulous giveaways, make sure you’re following the @EarGearHearing and @VAHandsnVoices Twitter accounts. Easy, right?

So if you want to win giveaways (20 winners total), chat with other moms and hear more about special needs children, don’t miss my special Hands & Voices chat tonight!

    * Speak Up: Are YOU coming to the live webisode tonight?

Hello, My Name Is Momma, And I’m Addicted To Purses

Natural moms Halle Berry and Heidi Klum looks gorgeous on the go…

    * Fashion Review Fest of the Week:

I love Shop Suey Boutique and I’m not ashamed to say it. Although I used to think that purses were all about labels (actually daring to carry a Fouis-Vuitton in my Jessica Simpson phase as a teenager), I grew to avoid hand bags all together as a new mom. Purses became a reminder of what I could never have: they would never be luxe, they would never be pricey, and they would never go without spilled formula and fruit snacks inside. Even though I love my children beyond words, reason or sanity, I have deeply neglected my fashion sense and attention detail since becoming a mom. That is, until I became hooked on Shop Suey this year.

If I could be addicted to anyone one website at the moment, it would definitely be this one. I could stare at the purses all day long (check out and tell me you don’t want it), especially because they’re always in my price range. No matter what I’m wearing or what I need to carry, I’ve never met a Shop Suey purse that doesn’t look super fancy, crazy stylish and get the job done. Check out the latest…

    * If You Don’t Want A Diaper Bag: Janey Tote in Beige

Let’s talk in fashion language for a second: quilted detail, abundant size, expansive pockets, leather feel. Need I say more? The Janey reads like the Porsche of purses without the ridiculous price tag. It has a plethora of pockets for all your motherhood needs (lately I find myself carrying Neosporin and stickers like they’re going out of style), but has the look of an over-paid celebrity on vacation. In fact, yesterday I fit my laptop, my daughter’s giant hearing aid case and 2 toy ponies inside without even thinking twice. It comes in a beautiful shade of green too, which makes me wish I had both. And if that doesn’t do it for you, check out some of the other bags I have my eye on…

    * Alma Tote: Restrained, refined and unique. This bag looks perfect for a day running errands or a fancy night out (plus, it comes in blue…how cool is that?)

    * Gerri Crossbody Bag: Feel like channeling Kate Hudson circa Almost Famous, and go all haphazard bohemian? Look no further.

    * Bailey Satchel: Call me nepotistic, but the fact there is a bag that shares my name is too cool for words (unless that word is Bailey). I totally want to carry this gorgeous red beauty, just so I can tell her she rocks.

    * Sound Off: Which bag do you want the most?
